Just as the recent storm tore through the northwest the previous evening, Manchester City overwhelmed Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their championship potential as they reinforced their standing at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Defeats for United

This result marked back-to-back Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their championship aspirations severely dented.

The Red Devils' capability to balance domestic and European football with a small squad has been a hotly discussed subject since they earned a place in the Champions League.
