Vinted Users Share Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
